Early Admission Plan Changes for the Class of 2027

college kickstart logoMost schools have completed their updates for the 2022-23 admission cycle (Class of 2027), and several of the changes we've observed are worth noting. 

Roughly 30 schools have modified early admission options available to applicants this fall.  Notable changes include the switch from early action to restrictive early action at Caltech and the addition of early action at USC, Clemson and Florida State.

University of Pennsylvania Admits 1,218 Early Decision Applicants to Class of 2026

upenn logoThe University of Pennsylvania admitted 1,218 early decision applicants to the Class of 2026.  

Early decision applications totaled 7,795,  resulting in an admission rate of 16 percent.

Brown Admits 896 Early Decision Applicants to the Class of 2026

brown logoBrown accepted 896 applicants to the Class of 2026 under early decision.  

Early decision applications totaled 6,146 this year, up 11 percent and resulting in an early admission rate of 15 percent.

Emory Admits 804 Early Decision I Applicants to Class of 2026

emory logoEmory University admitted 804 Early Decision I applicants to the Class of 2026. 673 were admitted solely to Emory College, 325 solely to Oxford College and 194 to both.

A total of 2,205 early decision 1 applications were received for admittance to Emory College, Oxford College at Emory or both.

Duke Admits 21 Percent of Early Decision Applicants to the Class of 2026

duke logoDuke announced today that it admitted 855 students via early decision (including QuestBridge scholars) to the Class of 2026.

A total of 4,015 applications were received, resulting in an early decision rate of 21 percent.

Vanderbilt Admits 24.1 Percent of Early Decision Applicants to the Class of 2026

vanderbilt logoVanderbilt University reported that it admitted 24.1 percent of early decision applicants to the Class of 2026.

Around 650 students were admitted from a pool of 2,700 early decision applications.

Barnard Admits 29 Percent of Early Decision Applicants to the Class of 2026

barnard logoBarnard announced today that it admitted 29 percent of early decision applicants to the Class of 2026.  

A total of 1,501 early decision applications were received, up 17 percent year over year.  Early decision admits are expected to represent 62 percent of the incoming class size of 700.

Dartmouth Admits 530 Early Decision Applicants to the Class of 2026

dartmouth logoDartmouth accepted 530 applicants to the Class of 2026 under early decision.  

Early decision applicants totaled 2,633, resulting in an acceptance rate of 20 percent.

Dartmouth anticipates a targeted class of 1,150.

Rice Admits 440 Early Decision Applicants to the Class of 2026

Rice logoRice University admitted 440 early decision applicants to the Class of 2026.  

Early decision applications increased slightly from last year, though the article did not disclose the resulting admission rate.

University of Virginia Admits 1,097 Early Decision Applicants to the Class of 2026

uva logoThe University of Virginia announced today that it admitted 1,097 early decision applicants to the Class of 2026.  

A total of 3,466 early decision applications were received, up 18 percent year over year, resulting in an overall early admission rate of 32 percent.  The resident admit rate was 38 percent versus 25 percent for non-residents.

Roughly 25 schools have modified early admission options available to applicants this fall.  Notable changes include the resumption of Restrictive Early Action at Princeton, the introduction of Early Decision 2 at Carnegie Mellon, Emerson and Loyola Marymount, and the removal of Early Decision 2 at Syracuse University.
