University of California Fall 2024 Admission Trends

ucHot off the press!  We've had a chance to review the preliminary Fall 2024 admissions data released recently by the University of California and we thought it would be helpful to summarize it and share our key findings.  

Overall freshman admission rates increased systemwide from 63 percent to 66 percent year-over-year, fueled by a 5.8 percent increase in acceptances. If you're an out of state or international student, pay close attention...there continues to be a window of opportunity to take advantage of favorable rates at a couple of UC campuses.

Brown Reinstates Standardized Testing Requirement for the Class of 2029

brown logoBrown announced this month that it will reinstate standardized testing requirements for most applicants beginning with the class of 2029.  

Exceptions will be permitted for some applicants where the IB or a national exam may be substituted, and the school will continue to be test-optional for student veterans, transfer applicants, and Resumed Undergraduate Education students

University of Georgia Admits 9,000 Early Action Applicants to the Class of 2028

UGA logoThe University of Georgia offered 9,000 early action applicants to the Class of 2028.

A total of 26,760 applications were received, up 3.5 percent from the previous year, resulting in an admit rate of 34 percent.

Harvard Admits 692 Early Applicants to Class of 2028

harvardHarvard announced today that it admitted 692 applicants to the Class of 2028 under restrictive early action.  

A total of 7,921 early applications were receive, resulting in an early admission rate of 8.74 percent, up over last year's rate of 7.56 percent.

U.S. News & World Report Posts 2024 College Rankings

usnwr bestcollegesU.S. News & World Report released their 2024 college rankings yesterday.  Approximately 80% of the nearly 1,500 schools ranked returned their information, including 99 of the top 100 ranked national universities and 97 of the top 100 ranked national liberal arts colleges.

Significant changes were made to this year's methodology, including more emphasis on social mobility and outcomes and changes to weightings.

Princeton retains sole possession of the top spot for National Universities, and Williams College tops the list of Liberal Arts Colleges.

Overall freshman admission rates increased systemwide from 60 percent to 63 percent year-over-year, fueled by a 2.1 percent decline in applications and 3.3 percent increase in acceptances. If you're an out of state or international student, pay close attention...there continues to be a window of opportunity to take advantage of favorable rates at a couple of UC campuses.

Georgetown Admits 13 Percent of Applications to the Class of 2027

Georgetown logoGeorgetown announced today that it admitted 13 percent of applicants to the Class of 2027.  

A total of 3,263 students were admitted out of 25,519 applicants.

Duke Offers Regular Admission to 2,148 Students for the Class of 2027

duke logoDuke announced today that it offered regular admission to 2,148 students for the Class of 2027.

A total of 44,489 regular decision applications were received, resulting in a regular decision acceptance rate of 4.6 percent.

Emory University Admits 5,445 Applicants to the Class of 2027

emory logoEmory University announced today it admitted 5,445 applicants to the Class of 2027.

A total of 33,534 applications were received.

A total of 3,428 were offered admission to Emory College and 3,335 were offered admission to Oxford College.  61 percent of applicants applied to both colleges and 1,376 were accepted to both.

Columbia Admits 3.9 Percent of Applicants to the Class of 2027

Columbia University announced it admitted 3.9 percent of applicants to the Class of 2027.

2,246 applicants were admitted from a total pool of 57,129 applications.

Yale Admits 2,275 Applicants to the Class of 2027
