University of Chicago Goes Test Optional and Enhances Financial Aid and Support Resources for First Generation and Low Income Students

University of Chicago Admits 2,329 Applicants to the Class of 2022

uchicagoThe University of Chicago announced that it admitted 2,329 students to the Class of 2022.  

Applications totaled 32,291, up 16.6 percent from the previous year, resulting in an overall admission rate of 7.2 percent.

Carleton Admits 19.4 Percent of Applicants to the Class of 2022

carleton logoCarleton College announced yesterday that it admitted 19.4 percent of applicants to the Class of 2022.  

Nearly 7,100 applications were received, up 9 percent from the previous year.

The target size for the Class of 2022 is approximately 525.

Claremont Colleges Report Early and Regular Decision Admission Results for the Class of 2022

ClaremontCollegesThe Claremont Colleges—Pomona, Pitzer, Scripps, Claremont McKenna and Harvey Mudd—announced admission results for the Class of 2022.  

  • Pomona reported 7 percent of total applicants were admitted this year. Early and regular decision admission rates were not provided.
  • Scripps reported 24.1 percent of total applicants were admitted to the Class of 2022.  The admission rate for early decision applicants was 32 percent versus 23 percent for regular decision.
  • Pitzer reported an overall admission rate of 13.2 percent for the Class of 2022.  The early decision admission rate was 34.4 percent versus 11.3 percent for regular decision.
  • Claremont McKenna admitted 8.9 percent of applicants to the Class of 2022.  Early and regular decision admission rates were not provided.
  • Harvey Mudd admitted 14.5 percent of applicants to the Class of 2022.  The early decision admit rate was 18.9 percent while the regular decision admission rate was 13.9 percent.

Forbes Releases Best Value College Rankings for 2018

forbesForbes released its list of America's Best Value Colleges for 2018. 

The Forbes ranking methodology is driven by alumni earnings (20%), net price (20%), net debt (20%), school quality (20%), timely graduation (10%) and Pell grant recipients (10%).  

At the top of this year's list:

  1. UCLA
  2. University of California - Berkeley
  3. Brigham Young University
  4. University of California - Irvine
  5. University of Washington - Seattle
  6. Harvard University
  7. Stanford University
  8. Princeton University
  9. University of California - San Diego

Macalester Admits 41 Percent of Applicants to the Class of 2022

William & Mary Admits 36 Percent of Students to the Class of 2022

A total of 14,640 applications were received.  The target size for the Class of 2021 is 1,530 students.

Hamilton Admits 1300 Applicants to the Class of 2022

A total of 6,240 applications were received, up 10 percent from the previous year, resulting in an overall admission rate of 20.8 percent.

Wesleyan Admits 17.5 Percent of Applicants to the Class of 2022

wesleyanWesleyan University announced it admitted 17.5 percent of applicants to the Class of 2022.  

A total of 12,788 applications were received, up 2 percent from the previous year.

The targeted class size is 780.

Notre Dame Admits 3,586 Applicants to the Class of 2022

A total of 20,370 applications were received this year, resulting in an overall admission rate of 17.6 percent. Total applications were up 4 percent over the previous year.

Amherst College Admits 12.8 Percent of Applicants to the Class of 2022

Amherst logo.svgAmherst College announced that it admitted 12.8 percent of applicants to the Class of 2022. 

1,244 students were admitted from a pool of 9,722 applicants, inclusive of early decision.  Amherst is targeting an incoming class of 460-485 students.

Oxford College at Emory Admits 4,144 Applicants to the Class of 2022

58 percent of the 27,982 applications to Emory were also to Oxford College, resulting in an overall admit rate of approximately 26 percent.
