Early Admission Plan Changes for the Class of 2025

college kickstart logoMost schools have completed their updates for the Class of 2025 admission cycle (2020-21), and several of the changes we've observed are worth noting. 

Roughly 25 schools have modified early admission options available to applicants this fall.  Notable changes include the temporary suspension of Restrictive Early Action at Princeton, the introduction of an Early Action 2 option specifically for non-resident applicants at Georgia Tech, a new Early Action option at Macalester and new Early Decision 2 options at Baylor, Johns Hopkins, Syracuse, University of Rochester and Villanova.

If you're considering early admission, be sure to check out our list as it may impact how you decide to apply this fall.   Note to our subscribers: the data has already been incorporated into the product, simply re-run College Kickstart to see how it impacts your plan.

Georgia Tech Admits 4,569 Early Action Applicants to the Class of 2024

gatech logoGeorgia Tech announced that it admitted 4,569 early action applicants to the Class of 2024.  

Early action applications grew 9 percent to 22,199, resulting in an early action admission rate of 21 percent.

Simply put, early admission should always be considered as part of your college plan.

Why?  Because early action and early decision programs can be tremendously useful in helping a competitive candidate enhance admission odds.  By submitting your application early, you'll hear back earlier and in most instances improve your chances for admission.  Better yet, if you're accepted early, you'll be able to avoid the cost and effort of applying to schools of lower interest on your list.

In this three part series, we'll explore the fundamentals, when/how to take advantage of them, and where early admission is offered.  Read on for Part I.

In particular, 16 schools have modified early admission options available to applicants this fall.  Notable changes include the replacement of Early Action for Early Decision I/II at Boston College, the introduction of a new Early Decision I option at Howard University and the University of Virginia, and a new Early Action option at Union College.

Georgia Tech Admits 4,000 Early Action Applicants to the Class of 2023

gatech logoGeorgia Tech announced today that it admitted 4,000 early action applicants to the Class of 2023.  

Early action applications grew 12 percent to 20,289, resulting in an early action admission rate of 20 percent—40 percent for residents and 14 percent for non-residents.

Georgetown Admits 919 Early Action Applicants to Class of 2023

georgetown logoGeorgetown University admitted 919 restrictive early action applicants to the Class of 2023.  

A total of 7,802 early action applications were received this year, resulting in an early admission rate of 12 percent.

Middlebury Admits 297 Early Decision I Applicants to the Class of 2023

middlebury logoMiddlebury College announced today that it admitted 297 early decision I applicants to the Class of 2023.  

A total of 654 early decision I applications were received this year, resulting in an early admission rate of 45 percent.

Middlebury expects admitted early decision applicants to comprise 41 percent of the targeted class size of 730.

Notre Dame Admits 1,534 Restrictive Early Action Applicants to the Class of 2023

notredame logoThe University of Notre Dame announced today that it admitted 1,534 restrictive early action applicants to the Class of 2023.  

A total of 7,334 early action applications were received this year, resulting in an early admission rate of 19 percent. Total early action applications were up 17 percent over the previous year.

Early Admission Plan Changes for the Class of 2023

college kickstart logoMany colleges and universities have begun updating their websites for the Class of 2023 (2018-19) admission cycle.  While we expect the activity to continue into the late summer, several of the changes we've observed are worth noting. 

In particular, roughly 25 schools have introduced changes to the early admission plans available to you this fall.  Notable changes include a new Early Decision II option at Babson, William & Mary and Washington University in St. Louis, a new Early Action I option at Penn State and Sarah Lawrence and removal of restrictive early action options at Baylor (now Early Decision I) and Boston College (now Early Action).

Georgia Tech Admits 4,677 Early Action Applicants to the Class of 2022

Early action applications grew 16 percent to 18,124, resulting in an early action admission rate of 26 percent—46 percent for residents and 19 percent for non-residents.

student questionsHere's our latest list of early decision and early action dates for the Class of 2022.  As many of you know, schools often post results in advance of their "official" notification dates, so we've compiled the most recently updated dates for you here where available, as well as last year's notification dates for reference.   

Case Western is set to announce today at 8pm ET (both EDI and EA).  Colorado College (EA), Kalamazoo and the University of Michigan are on tap for Wednesday 12/20.

With ED/EA decisions released for virtually all of the schools we track, we'll call this 38th update our final one this season.

Georgetown Admits 1,002 Early Action Applicants to Class of 2022

A total of 8,383 early action applications were received this year, up 7 percent, resulting in an early admission rate of 12 percent.

Middlebury Admits 326 Early Decision I Applicants to the Class of 2022

middlebury logoMiddlebury College announced today that it admitted 326 early decision I applicants to the Class of 2022.  

A total of 650 early decision I applications were received this year, resulting in an early admission rate of 50 percent.

Middlebury expects admitted early decision applicants to comprise 45 percent of the targeted class size of 715.
