Sneak Peek for High School College Counselors (2021)
College Kickstart for High School Counselors features several new and exciting capabilities for 2021 to help you better navigate the uncertainty brought on by COVID and guide the planning process whether you're in-person or working remotely over a Zoom session.
What's New for High School College Counselors in 2021
We've introduced several new capabilities to help you better navigate the uncertainty brought on by the coronavirus, including: New tags have been added to identify schools with great honors programs, schools with strong political science programs and schools offering combined BS/MD programs. Majors are now available in MixFixer™! You can select from over thirty popular majors to better dial in on likely, target or reach schools to round out your list. The summary, requirements, need and merit-based aid views in the dashboard can now be individually printed to PDF for your students. For subscribers with 10+ students, a list progress report has also been added to facilitate conversations with clients about changes to their college list. You can select two runs for comparison—for example, the initial list you received from the student versus the latest list you've worked on together—and add custom commentary guide discussions forward. Scattergrams are now available for all high schools using the local context option. Designed for counselor use only, this capability allows you to easily review your historical data for trends and to decide how best to configure local context for each school of interest. You can filter your historical data by class, type of application and whether or not a student was hooked. Applicant reporting is available in the 2021 edition of College Kickstart. This report allows you to review the list of students in your current class who are planning to apply to a particular institution. For each institution selected, you'll be able to see the student's name, position of the institution in their list, how the school has been categorized, how the student plans to apply and their academic credentials. It's a great way to quickly identify scholarship nominees and to have handy as you debrief with admission officers in the spring.
