Pomona Releases Class of 2020 Admission Results

Pomona College LogoPomona College announced on Friday that it admitted 743 students to the Class of 2020.

In total, 8,104 applications were received, resulting in an overall admission rate of 9.1 percent.

Johns Hopkins Releases Class of 2020 Admission Results

johnshopkinslogoJohns Hopkins admitted 2,539 applicants to the Class of 2020 under regular decision.  

In total, 3,098 students were admitted from 27,095 applicants, resulting in an overall admission rate of 11 percent.  The early decision admission rate for the year was 29 percent, compared to a regular decision admission rate of 10 percent.

MIT Admits 1,485 Applicants to the Class of 2020

mit logoThe Massachusetts Institute of Technology announced today that it admitted a total of 1,485 applicants to the Class of 2020.  

A total of 19,020 applications were submitted this year, resulting in an overall admission rate of 7.8 percent.  

Of the 1,485 students admitted, 656 were from early action and 829 were from regular decision.  The early action admit rate was 8.4 percent for the year, while the regular decision rate was 7.4 percent.

Claremont Colleges Report Early Decision Results for the Class of 2020

Interest in Pomona, Pitzer and Harvey Mudd on the rise

ClaremontPPHThree of the five Claremont Colleges—Pomona, Pitzer and Harvey Mudd—announced early decision results for the Class of 2020 on Friday.  

  • Pomona College reported 19.4 percent of early decision (ED) applicants were admitted this year. 914 ED applications were received this year, up 24 percent from last year.  ED admittances will make up approximately 40 percent of the incoming class.
  • Pitzer College reported 27.8 percent of ED applicants were admitted to the Class of 2020.  423 ED applications were received this year, up 4 percent from the previous year.
  • Harvey Mudd College reported that 16.6 percent of ED applicants were admitted to the Class of 2020.  464 ED applications were received, up 6 percent from last year.  ED admittances will make up approximately 35 perent of the incoming class.
  • Scripps College and Claremont McKenna College did not report early admission results in the article.

Vanderbilt Admits 23.6% of Early Decision Applicants to the Class of 2020

Middlebury Admits 60 Early Decision II Applicants to the Class of 2020

middlebury logoMiddlebury College announced today that it admitted 60 early decision II applicants to the Class of 2020.  

A total of 318 early decision II applications were received this year, resulting in an early decision II admission rate of 20 percent.

Overall, a total of 954 early decision I and II applications were received and 398 were admitted, resulting in an overall early decision admit rate of 42 percent.

Amherst College Admits 180 Early Decision Applicants to the Class of 2020

Amherst logo.svgAmherst College announced today that it admitted 180 early decision applicants to the Class of 2020. 

Early decision applications fell 6 percent to 454, resulting in an early admission rate of 40 percent. Students admitted early decision will account for 38 percent of the targeted incoming class of  472 students.

George Washington University Admits 841 Early Decision Applicants to the Class of 2020

GWU LogoGeorge Washington University (GWU) announced last week that it plans to admit 841 early decision applicants to the Class of 2020.  

Early decision applications rose 30 percent to 1,373 this year, resulting in an early admission rate of 61%.  Students admitted early decision will account for 30-35% of the targeted incoming class of 2,500-2,600 studenets.

UNC Chapel Hill Admits 6,948 Early Action Applicants to the Class of 2020

uncchapelhill logoThe University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill reported today that it admitted 6,948 Early Action applicants to the Class of 2020.

A total of 19,842 early action applications were received this year, up 16 percent from the previous year, resulting in an early action admission rate of 35 percent.

Bowdoin College Admits 207 Early Decision I Applicants to the Class of 2020

Bowdoin LogoBowdoin College announced that it admitted 207 early decision I applicants to the Class of 2020.  

A total of 614 early decision I applications were received this year, resulting in an early admission rate of 33%.

Cornell Admits 27.4 Percent of Early Decision Applicants to Class of 2020

cornell logoCornell accepted 27.4 percent of applicants to the Class of 2020 under early decision.  

The total number of early decision applicants grew 7 percent to 4,833 this year.

Of the remaining applicant pool, 23.6 percent were deferred to regular decision and 50 percent were denied admission.

University of Virginia Admits 5,203 Early Action Applicants to the Class of 2020

uva logoThe University of Virginia announced today that it admitted 5,203 early action applicants to the Class of 2020.  

A total of 16,768 early action applications were received this year, resulting in an early admission rate of 31%.  Total early action applications accounted for over 50 percent of the total applications received for the year.  The targeted size of the class is expected to be approximately 3,675.

Boston College Admits 2,700 Restrictive Early Action Applicants to the Class of 2020

bostoncollegeBoston College announced today that it admitted 2,700 restrictive early action applicants to the Class of 2020.  

A total of 8,600 early action applications were received this year, resulting in an early admission rate of 32%.  Total early action applications accounted for approximately one-third of the total applications received for the year.

Tufts Early Decision Applications Rise 12% for the Class of 2020

tuftsTufts announced yesterday that early decision applications rose to 2,070 for the Class of 2020, up 12 percent from last year.  The institution expects to enroll roughly half of its targeted class of 1,325 through its two early decision rounds.

Overall applications grew to 20,160 as of January 14th, up 6 percent from the previous year.

University of California Applications Break Records for 12th Straight Year

ucThe University of California today announced freshman applications for the Fall of 2016 grew to over 166,000, up 5.2 percent from the Fall of 2015.  Transfer applications grew to nearly 40,000, up 11.8 percent year over year, resulting in a record 206,00 applications for the year.

All nine campuses reported increases in freshman applications, ranging from 4.7% growth at UC Berkeley and UCLA, to 11.8 percent growth at UC Merced.
